The Sandustry Flux Emanator converts VoidBloom into Fluxite, the upgrade currency — and you get exactly one of them per world. VoidBloom goes in from the top, fluxite crystals grow out of the bottom and keep spreading while open space remains, and you harvest by destroying the grown crystals. That single-building limit, confirmed by the official wiki entry and by a bemused Steam user who placed theirs somewhere and then couldn't place another, drives every decision on this page: pick a permanent site, keep the top fed, keep the bottom empty.
One per world: what the limit actually means
The Sandustry Flux Emanator carries a hard one-per-world placement cap, and the cap has real consequences recorded in the community threads:
- You can lose track of it. The Steam thread that documents the limit comes from a player who built one, forgot where, and found the build menu refusing a second — the reply pointed them to the wiki entry and suggested bringing the save to the Discord. Screenshot the location or wall it into a named room the day you place it.
- Scaling means feeding, not multiplying. A second unit is impossible by design, so throughput upgrades come from saturating the single intake tile — converging belts, a funnel overhead, and a buffer that keeps VoidBloom arriving during red-sand shortages.
- Moving is rebuilding. Relocating the machine means tearing down the feed funnel and the growth shaft together. Treat the first site as permanent, and budget the whole wing — planters, wash tank, mixing bin — around the Sandustry Flux Emanator rather than the other way round.
The chain that feeds it
VoidBloom is the end of the botanical line. Assemble it upstream:

Two containment notes from painful community experience: flowers spread uncontrollably if seeds escape (solid blocks, belts, and launchers stop them), and petals are light enough to foul unrelated filter lines — keep the botanical wing boxed in.
Every Sandustry Flux Emanator sits at the end of this chain, which is why feed problems masquerade as machine problems: the emanator is one tile, but its supply line is half the factory. If the wash tank clogs, if the planters run dry, if the mixing bin starves, the intake tile simply sits empty — and the machine gives you no alarm for any of it.
VoidBloom: petals plus red sand
The recipe is simple; the physics are not. Three properties of the ingredients shape every Sandustry Flux Emanator feed build:
- Red sand dives. It sinks through every mixed pile, so it naturally collects at the bottom of any shared bin — convenient for tapping from below, disastrous if the bin also feeds something else.
- Petals wander. They flutter down slowly, drift sideways, and slip through filters that would stop heavier material. Every wet spore processed eventually becomes about four petals, so the surplus is structural, not a sign of overproduction.
- VoidBloom is fragile. One Steam user mixed their batch, poked it with a pickaxe and explosives, and watched it vanish with nothing left to collect. Once mixed, handle the pile with belts and launchers, not tools.
Which side runs out first is version-dependent. Demo endgame reports describe mountains of leftover petals long after the last red sand was mined — one player finished with tens of thousands of gold and fluxite banked and still couldn't spend the petals. The developer has said this glut is an early-game artifact of demo balance and will not persist into the full release, so treat exact input ratios as version-sensitive.
Feeding the emanator
The intake is the top face. Every recorded feeding method is a variant of "drop VoidBloom on it":
- A conveyor belt or launcher arc ending directly overhead.
- A funnel that channels a wide stream onto the one intake tile.
- Grabber-delivered top-ups while the line is young.
- Hauler drones carrying VoidBloom from a remote mixing bin when a belt would have to cross hazards — bridge open water on the drone path or the load ends up in a lake (see the Haulers guide).
An idle Sandustry Flux Emanator fails silently — nothing announces that the feed ran dry — so if fluxite growth stalls, check belt saturation before suspecting a bug. Filters on the feed lane (set to VoidBloom only) keep stray petals, sand, and slag from landing on the intake tile.
The growth zone underneath
Fluxite grows below the footprint, downward and outward into open tiles, and it does not auto-collect: crystals persist in the world until you break them. Recorded builds show the loop continuing indefinitely as long as the machine has headroom above and open volume below — and stopping when either closes up.
- Dig the shaft before you place: several tiles of vertical clearance, with side room so growth does not fuse into the walls.
- Do not floor over the basement early; one recorded attempt watched growth overshoot its intended chamber when the space was misjudged.
- Harvest on a schedule. Uncollected crystals physically block the next growth cycle, the same way slag under a shaker chokes gold output.
- Shooting is the standard harvest; rockets strip large growths quickly.
Treat the Sandustry Flux Emanator's basement as part of the machine itself. Mature builds floor the bottom of the shaft with a catch lane — a belt or collection pad that gathers shattered shards before they scatter — and keep the walls straight so every crystal grows inside collection range. A growth zone you cannot fully see is a growth zone quietly clogging behind its own front row.
When the fluxite stops: a checklist
A silent Sandustry Flux Emanator has a short list of usual suspects, in the order to check them:
- Feed starvation. Watch the intake tile for a full minute. If nothing lands, trace the feed lane back to the VoidBloom bin — the cause is usually red sand, not the machine.
- A clogged growth zone. Old crystals block new ones. Clear the shaft with gunfire and the loop resumes on its own.
- Blocked headroom. A misplaced block or a sagging pile above the intake stops consumption entirely.
- Contamination on the tile. Petals or slag sitting on the intake do nothing but occupy it — add the feed filter.
- Mod interference. Community maps can move or restrict placement; retest on a vanilla map before calling anything broken.
Planning around the one-machine limit
Because you cannot parallelize, planning replaces scaling:
- Site it permanently. Moving the wing later means rebuilding the feed funnel and the growth shaft together — pick a spot with vertical room near your botanical line.
- Buffer the inputs. Stockpile whichever ingredient is cheap at the moment so the emanator never starves between red-sand trips.
- Expect balance patches. As of August 15, 2026, the loop itself — VoidBloom in, fluxite out, one machine only — is stable across demo and Early Access; the ratios feeding it are not.
A Sandustry Flux Emanator rewards the player who treats it as a building with an address, a diet, and a basement — not a faucet. Feed it clean VoidBloom, keep its shaft empty, and the upgrade currency takes care of itself.

Can I place a second Flux Emanator?
No. The machine is limited to a single placed unit per world — one Steam user discovered the limit by losing track of their first one. Scale by feeding that one tile better, not by placing a second.
